My BABY brother is officially 26 years and 1 week today! He got to share his birthday celebration on Sunday with the Moms =) I don't think he minded too much. It involved both funfetti cake AND Grandma's famous chocolate cake. I have to say, I think he's pretty fabulous. He has thrown in his braun on any project requested on this house, tolerates all my aches and pains questions (again, usually as a result of this house!), and is cute to boot! Don't you agree?
We have been busy around here... Sunday, after dinner, we had the moms give their input on a color for behind the shelves. You can't really see them, but we had the paint chips up there, and within minutes had things narrowed down! They also re-arranged our chairs in that nook. We really like them that way! Sold!
This week, we got a special treat in the mail! A Vermont housewarming from my aunt Martha!
It is bea-u-ti-ful!
It is currently hanging out on our mantle... which may become its permanent home. In all the switcheroo-ing this weekend, I was also inspired to begin putting more "stuff" on the mantle... OK, so I added the star, but it's a start.
So, Friday night we got started on the shelves. And by we, I mean that I helped clear them off and tape off the shelves, and he painted while I wrote technical and lay abstracts =)
Saturday, while I spread pine needles at our first house, hubby helped bro move... which meant he had a few things to go in Mom and Dad's attic. SO, we headed over... and after resting on the screened in porch for a little while, we asked if we could "temporarily store" their sofa table. We strapped it into the truck and were off!
I think it looks pretty nice! The space feels a lot more open, and there's more room to walk by the piano now.
The shelves are getting painted and are looking pretty good!
Saturday, while I went with Mom to do some Mother's Day gift returns, hubby was busy!
What is it, you ask? Why, that, my friends, is the start to a king-sized headboard. We don't have the bed to go with it quite yet... but writing about bed is making me wish I were there right now! What you don't see is the 14 boxes of laminate flooring that we purchased and delivered to our old house... I'll post pictures of the adventure next weekend... Meanwhile, our arms need to recover - that stuff is heavy, and our new headboard is ridiculously heavy!
